Re-naming of Champagne Rose Petal Jelly

Sparkling_Wild_Rose_Petal_Jelly_212ml_small400x480_bvh_websiteAs many of you are aware, unless Champagne is produced in the Champagne region of France, companies cannot name their product Champagne.

The Champagne we started with is now called Sparkling White Wine.  To avoid misleading the consumer and to comply with the regulations, we are changing the name of our Champagne Rose Petal Jelly to Sparkling Wild Rose Petal Jelly effective immediately.

Our jar wraps and labelling now reflect this change in the product name and ingredients list. We are also updating our website and marketing materials.

Yes, it’s that time of year already …

… and we’re busily preparing for 2015 Xmas Markets, Events and In-store Demos!

First on the list is next week’s Circle Craft Xmas Market, at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, from Wednesday November 11th to Sunday November 15th 2015.3b_P1160504_triopack2stackjars_newsletter15

Heritage Roses in the Artisan Edibles Gardens

In order to meet the growing demand for Champagne Rose Petal Jelly, this Spring we expanded our spray-free rose garden to include three varieties of Heritage roses:
Jens Munk, Mrs Anthony J Waterer and Duchesse de Montebello.
Special thanks to Margo Thom in Port Alberni (“The Old Lady Of Old Roses”) for sharing her gardens and rose growing expertise and also for supplying us with our Heritage rose bushes. If you happen to be in the Sproat Lake area, take time to stop and visit the grounds of The Old Lady of Old Roses – we’re sure you’ll enjoy the visit.

So, we’re all set for our seasonal and limited production of Champagne Rose Petal Jelly! Spray-free petals from our own garden roses will be delicately placed in each jar of jelly to create our signature suspended petal sculptures. The hand-picked wild rose petals (picked during the month of June from local fields on Vancouver Island) will be used to infuse the champagne and provide the very delicate balance of flavour in our end product … perfect for a Spring or Summer Afternoon Tea, served with Rose Petal Scones!

Artisan Edibles in the USA …

We’re back on Vancouver Island after a very successful trip to the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco and THRILLED to report that Artisan Edibles’ products were very well received by US and Canadian distributors, brokers and buyers.  Feedback was that our packaging was exquisite and flavour profiles very distinct.  With the input and guidance received, we feel very encouraged to initiate the next steps in exporting to the US.  We’ll be sure to keep you posted on our progress!

Pictured above is Maureen Drew in the Canadian Pavillion with Will Fox, Managing Director, International Trade and Investment Office, USA, Pacific Coast (left) and Cassie Doyle, the Consul General, Consulate General of Canada, San Francisco/Silicon Valley

The days spent in foodie paradise were amazing and we even managed to add a few must-visit stops to share with you on our Fabulous Finds album

We also got to experience pre-Super Bowl Mania with the San Francisco 49’ers beating Seattle – as you can imagine, the sports bars were hopping!
Stay tuned for more on our favourite Super Bowl recipes for the big game coming up this weekend …

Don’t waste that lemon peel!

Did you know that lemon peels contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself?

So, how can you use the whole lemon without waste?  Simple …  place the lemon in the freezer section of your refrigerator – once the lemon is frozen, get your grater, and shred the whole lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle it on top of your foods – vegetable salad, ice cream, soup, noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, sushi, fish dishes.

The surprising benefits of lemon …
You can eat the pulp, juice press, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc.  It is credited with many virtues, but the most interesting is the effect it produces on cysts and tumors – some say it is very useful in all variants of cancer. It is considered an anti-microbial spectrum against bacterial infections and fungi, effective against internal parasites and worms, it regulates blood pressure which is too high and as an antidepressant, can assist with combatting stress and nervous disorders. So, next time you’re shopping for fruit, DON’T FORGET THE LEMONS!

Last, but not least, we’re pleased to say we use the WHOLE lemon in our Meyer Lemon Chutney!

Rose Petal Picking Season

Mid-year means rose petal picking season which means we’ve been hard at work picking the finest fragrant blooms for our Champagne Rose Petal Jelly  (see middle image in banner above).  We love producing this product and never tire of holding the jars to the light, after each production run, to see the beautiful suspended petal sculptures.

Don’t forget to try our  Champagne Rose Petal Cocktails … perfect for a summer outdoor party and even more special as a wedding cocktail!

New Packaging

Yes, we juggled the new packaging project at the same time as the web site re-design!  It’s been a huge undertaking but we’re really pleased with the end-result.

Our new wraps echo the original design and allow for more information – nutritionals, barcode, Canada Brand – while also being easier to assemble and transport.  We’ve had excellent feedback so far and hope you like them as much as we do.

Welcome To Our New Web Site!

It’s been a long timing coming but we’ve finally got our new web site up and we love it!  You’ll see there is a more comprehensive recipe section with mouth-watering enticing photography, plus the all important links to Facebook (have you “liked” our page yet?) and Twitter .

We love the fact that the new WordPress site is so easy to manage and will allow us to keep you updated with all our latest news and activities.   Have a look around and let us know what you think – we’d love to have your feedback and, don’t forget to let us know if you have any relevant recipes or news you’d like to share with us!
